One of the most ambitious internship assignments that we’ve seen so far was the build of a Kubernetes learning platform. We’ve dubbed it SpotOps.
Building a platform to prepare for Kubernetes certification examinations
In essence we wanted to fulfil a desperate wish from a few of our Pointer colleagues: they longed for some kind of system on which they can train their knowledge of Kubernetes. This would ideally help more colleagues obtain a the status of a certified Kubernetes application developer.
Different from existing tutorial software
A similar looking platform called Katacoda already exists — yet this only offers a tutorial-like kind of interaction that was insufficient for a few of our Pointers that had a different idea on how to test their skills. With our unique code, we can now reach the stars when it comes down to functionalities.

What’s next?
One of the ideas that are currently floating around is to install a gamification engine on top of what is already built. Inso-doing we can have internal competitions and have a global rank when it comes down to knowledge about Kubernetes.
Delivering way more than we expected from his first 3,5 weeks here, Brend is leaving a mighty good impression on our very own Kubernetes experts.
We’re looking forward to the weeks to come and see what kind of magic he can bestow upon us.
